Like the high priests of old, Jesus offered a sacrifice of atonement. What makes his sacrifice different?

Hebrews 4:14-16 is clear on how we can receive forgiveness through our eternal High Priest Jesus when we fall short and how we can receive support in the midst of temptation. We can be confident in drawing near to the throne of grace especially in a “time of need.” But realistically, aren’t we always in a time of need?

The author of Hebrews follows the theme of hardened hearts, disobedience, and not resting in God by presenting the solution in response—the word of God.

Hebrews has been saying that we miss out big time when we do not believe God’s promises. Not only will we miss out on a relationship with Him, but we also miss out on His rest. What does God’s divine rest look like?

In today’s passage, we focus on the often forgotten and under-appreciated Third Person of the Trinity — the Holy Spirit. He is no less God and no less important than the Father and the Son… He is as Jesus calls Him, The Helper.

As we think about great men, let’s not lose sight of how Jesus is that much greater in what He’s done and who He is.

The Hebrews writer wants us to know that this Son, Jesus is on a mission to restore his Father’s family that’s been separated since the days of Eden.

In Jesus, we don’t just get a representation of God, but we see the “exact imprint of his nature” in human form. Why would we need to pay more attention to this “great salvation” in Jesus than in the law?

In our world today, trends, fads, and ideals change quicker than someone can even keep track of. Yet, through all these centuries, one thing never changes.

One of the main themes of the letter to the Hebrews provides explanations for why Jesus is worth worshipping as God.
