We’re becoming a place of refuge, redemption, and resurgence for Honolulu and Hawai‘i NEI.
Dear Harbor Church...
What man among you, who has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open field and go after the lost one until he finds it? (Luke 15:3)
What woman who has ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? (Luke 15:8)
The younger son gathered together all he had and traveled to a distant country, where he squandered his estate in foolish living. … When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired workers have more than enough food, and here I am dying of hunger! I’ll get up, go to my father, and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. … The father told his servants, “Quick! bring the fattened calf and slaughter it, and let’s celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found! (Luke 15:13-24)
One lost sheep. One lost coin. One lost son. Jesus is always looking for one more.
What if each one of us committed to reach one more person with the saving grace of Jesus?
And what if there were so many people coming to faith that we had to plant 100 more churches just to fit them all?
And what if those churches reached one percent of the population of Hawaii?
I’ve seen God do amazing things in Harbor Church over the past 18 years of our existence. He’s grown us from a little house-church in East Oahu into a family of five growing churches across the island. He’s saved people, healed marriages, transformed lives.
And from what I can tell, he was just warming up. This year we have a cohort of 7 potential church-planters being trained. We have new connection and outreach initiatives launching in Kaka‘ako and across the island. We have new community groups multiplying all the time.
God’s work in Harbor is just accelerating. That’s why we’re expecting great things from him and attempting great things for him.
Are you ready?
Expectant,
Matt Dirks | Pastor for Preaching and Vision
