You are all partners with me in grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. (Philippians 1:7)
God designed this life to be lived not independently, but interdependently. When you think of the big time players during the first century church, do mainly guys like Peter, Paul, and the other Apostles only come to mind? We often forget that these men did not accomplish everything they did on their own, but with the help from everyday Christian brothers and sisters like you and I.
In this first chapter, we hear about how the Philippian believers supported Paul throughout his missionary journeys. Even when many abandoned Paul when he was on trial and in prison, these guys stood by his side. This is because, both the Philippians and Paul experienced the happiness that comes from depending on one another. Paul’s mega successful ministry wouldn’t have been what it was without help from ordinary believers.
It also seems like Paul had absolutely no shame with asking for help. Is there someone who comes to mind that you can ask for wisdom or guidance for a new idea or ministry you’d like to start soon? Or how about helping a person who could use your skills or expertise for a situation they’re stuck in? Maybe someone you know could simply use your support by praying with them once a week to see their adult child come back to the Father. Whatever the Lord is putting on your heart this week, find ways to partner with someone, so they can run their race and the good news will continue to reach those who need to hear it.
