Faithful Word (Joshua 1)

This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do. (Joshua 1:8)

How’s 2024 looking for you so far? Is there something big that needs to happen for you or your family this year? Perhaps, God’s calling you to do something or to change something that looks pretty intimidating. Maybe it even looks impossible. Well, in our new Sunday series called Faithful we’re journeying through the book of Joshua, where God calls Israel to a staggering task that would require faith, strength, and courage in their lives.

In Chapter 1, God appoints Joshua as Israel’s new leader. Now Moses was Israel’s greatest leader, and he had just passed. And now they have the greatest task ahead of them without the GOAT. Not the best timing. And not a good time for a rookie like Joshua to step in. Israel needed to defeat countless enemies to settle in the land that was promised to them. It almost seemed impossible. Intimidation was hovering the camp of Israel like a dark cloud.

And so what was the key advice that God gave to the people of Israel for the most important assignment of their life?

God gives it to them in Joshua 1:7-8 (spend time meditating on it for your task ahead).

Are you looking for advice in 2024? Are you searching for wisdom and guidance on how to accomplish the staggering task ahead of you?

Listen to the same instructions that God gave to Israel in Joshua 1:7-8, and you will find your success. Consider God’s advice to you. Be careful to observe and follow it. Bank on it. And then see what happens. Most importantly, see what happens to you.

Psalm 119:105

“Your word is a lamp for my feet
and a light on my path.”
