Meditate on 1 John 1: 8-9
If we say, “We have no sin,”we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Throughout this day, let’s all meditate and focus on confession and coming before the Lord with our sin, knowing that He is able to forgive us of our sins. There’s a big difference between relationship (the unbreakable Father-child bond) and fellowship (our line of communication). Certainly confession plays a vital role in maintaining intimate communication with the Father, but the believer’s standing as His child cannot change. Fellowship with God is interrupted by sin (Ps. 66:18) but restored when we confess and repent. Then we are freed from the emotional bondage of guilt and shame.
Let’s come before the Lord today confessing our sins and restoring that intimate fellowship with Jesus. Our Heavenly Father longs to reveal His heart to us. Have you prepared yourself to listen and obey? As we continue the week in praying for others, let’s make sure we are first in fellowship with our Lord through confessing our sins and feeling the joy of forgiveness.
