God is With You – All The Time! (Acts 7)

The Most High does not dwell in sanctuaries made with hands, as the prophet says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth my footstool. What sort of house will you build for me?” says the Lord, “or what will be my resting place? Did not my hand make all these things?” (Acts 7:48-50)

Stephen is quoting Isaiah 66, saying that there isn’t any one specific place or time where you can meet God. Even the incredible temple of Jerusalem could never even begin to contain him. Most of us understand that, but still, we sometimes get the feeling that God is present in a church service in a way he’s not any other time during the week.

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3, “Don’t you yourselves know that you all are God’s temple and that the Spirit of God lives in you?” Which means that God dwells wherever his people are. No matter how many of them are there, and no matter if they’re singing worship songs or not.

When you get together with a fellow believer for lunch on a Tuesday, God is just as present as he is at a church service on a Sunday morning. When you gather with your community group on a Wednesday, God is just as present as he is on Sunday.

He’s just as present to teach, just as present to encourage, just as present to inspire, just as present to bless. So take your experience of God on Sunday, and lean even more into his presence throughout the week!
