READ Acts 28:17-22

“For this reason I’ve asked to see you and speak to you. In fact, it is for the hope of Israel that I’m wearing this chain.” (Acts 28:20)

It’s been over two years since the initial commotion in Jerusalem (Acts 21), and after setting up in Rome, Paul’s first thought is to speak to the Jewish leaders in Rome. Heʻs finally here–the place where God wanted him to go, although the route he took was very long and very difficult.

He respectfully calls on the elders and presents his case, and God has been faithful in preparing the listeners. No one sent any negative letters about Paul. No one was “talking stink” about him but the Jews were definitely interested in hearing about Jesus.

It could take longer than we want and it could be tougher than we expect, but keep faithful to the mission God has set for you. It is your mission at home, at school, at work–it is our mission to tell people of the good news and to glorify God with our lives. We can be confident in fulfilling our mission because of Deuteronomy 31:8, “The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Just as in Paulʻs case, God is faithful and He will prepare the way before you.
