Psalm 125 – Put Your Trust in God

READ PSALM 125

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mt. Zion. It cannot be shaken; it remains forever. (Psalms 125:1)

In today’s psalm, we see the magnificent promise when we put our complete trust in God.  The psalmist compares a person who places all of their hope and trust in God to Mt. Zion.  What does it mean to put our trust in God?  We can’t properly put our trust in God until we remove our trust in other things.  That means we can’t trust God and still be distracted and consumed by our stock portfolio or retirement plan.  That means we can’t trust God and still be worried if people like or don’t respond to your daily posts on social media.  That means we can’t trust God and still try to follow what every parenting book tells you to do to raise your child.

Have you found contentment through your relationship with Jesus Christ?  When we rely on God, and Him alone, as our true source of refuge and strength, we will not be shaken.  When we believe and trust in the Lord, we are promised security in Him.  Mt. Zion was known as the prominent hill that Jerusalem was established on.  When people see Mt. Zion, they are in awe of it’s stature and standing.  Our place in God’s love, in God’s new life that He gives to us, and His gracious purpose will last forever and we can’t be shaken or moved.  As you go about your day today, rest in this promise that when we trust in the Lord, we will not be shaken or moved and we will remain forever with God.  Live your life in the complete joy and freedom in knowing that God is in control of your life.  When storms come, rest in God’s comfort and promises.  When good times come, rejoice in God’s blessing and provisions for you.
