Psalm 71 – God Will Pick You Up
You caused me to experience many troubles and misfortunes, but you will revive me again. You will bring me up again, even from the depths of the earth. (Psalm 71:20)
Just as a parent wants their child to learn perseverance from difficult situations or a sports coach wants their players to break bad habits so that they can learn how to develop good habits which will help them to succeed, God desires this for His children and He sees it to completion. Many would say we are in the middle or hopefully coming out of a terrible situation. Do you believe that God is still in control of everything? God has not abandoned us. God has not forsaken us. Our inclination should be to run to God and depend on Him.
In today’s psalm we see that David realized that God was faithful in his youth and was still faithful as he got older. This type of faithfulness and trust in God wasn’t due to David never facing problems or difficulties. On the contrary, David said God’s goodness in victory and God’s faithfulness when he was struggling against his enemies. In every situation, God rescued David and He will rescue us, too. Let us live every day with the confidence that God will pick us up from our lowest points in life. Let us also ask God what lessons He wants us to learn from whatever situation He picks us up from. Finally, let us thank Him for molding us more and more into the image of His Son, Jesus.
