Psalm 64 – The Proof Is In The Pudding

READ PSALM 64

Then everyone will fear and will tell about God’s work, for they will understand what he has done (Psalms 64:9)

In today’s psalm, we see David crying out to God for help and protection from his enemies.  Though the enemies sound victorious over David, once God intervenes and shoots down David’s enemies, verse 9 reads that everyone will fear and tell of God’s work for they will realize what God has done.  All of these witnesses, whether they like it or not, will be able to attest to God’s power and be in awe of what God has done.  Everyone will see for themselves what God can do.

In this unprecedented time in history, are we making God and His work the subject of our conversations?  Before this pandemic, my subjects of conversation with others were whatever was happening in the current professional sports season, recent blockbuster movies or popular streaming shows to binge watch, or whatever destination of my family’s next vacation.  It is easy to take for granted God’s control and provisions over our lives when times are good.  Now, a lot of us are struggling with our lives looking a lot different than one year ago today.  Yet, God still remains the same.  He is still in control of what is happening around us and His love remains constant.  People around us are searching for truth and hope.  They can try to find it from the news, social media, or their own understanding.  Let’s point people to the only lasting truth and hope, Jesus Christ.  Before we can have fruitful conversations about God, we need to be filled daily by God’s word and ask Him to reveal His power, grace, and love to us so that we can tell others about God’s goodness.
