Psalm 54 – No More Trouble
For he has rescued me from every trouble, and my eye has looked down on my enemies (Psalms 54:7)
One day, we’re gonna see the complete fulfillment of this verse. Not just in part, but we’re gonna be rescued from every trouble. The day is coming when you won’t need to worry about anything! No more fear of COVID-19 or some future pandemic. No more stress over the possibility of losing your job. No more losing sleep as you wait for your unemployment and stimulus check. No more complications in your marriage and family. Absolutely no more sickness, suffering, loss of loved ones, betrayal, injustice, corruption, and frustrations and regrets of your own sin that has robbed you from so much. If this sounds too good to be true, well, it really is. But do read Revelation 21:1-5 for yourself.
Now all of this is possible only because God chose to demonstrate his mercy and grace. In Genesis three, immediately after humanity betrayed God, and rerouted the whole course of life on a path to destruction. God promised to send help to his enemies. God described a person who would rescue us, as he said to our most vicious enemy, Satan, “He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel” (Genesis. 3:15). That unnamed hero we now know is Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus you’ll see the fulfillment of Psalms 54:7, “For he [Jesus] has rescued me from every trouble, and my eye has looked down on my enemies.” One day, we’re gonna see Satan, sin, death, and every kind of evil totally destroyed, when Jesus unleashes his final blow to all these enemies (Revelation 20).
