Psalm 43 – Our Greatest Joy

READ PSALM 43

Then I will come to the altar of God, to God, my greatest joy. I will praise you with the lyre, God, my God. (Psalm 43:4)

During this pandemic, we have all had to adapt and adjust to new changes to our lifestyle and how we interact with people. In today’s psalm, we are reminded that no matter what circumstances we face, one thing needs to remain constant. Where do we find our greatest joy? The psalmist was making an appeal to God for help against his adversaries and the oppression he suffered. He begged for God’s light and truth to direct him to the place to worship God.

Is God your greatest joy? Have you found all of your satisfaction in God, and God alone?  The things of this world can try to satisfy us, but it will never last and it will always fail us.  For some of us, this pandemic has stripped us of many of our earthly satisfactions, and has brought us back to where God wants His children to find our greatest joy and delight in.  The psalmist experienced the goodness of God and responded in worship and praise.  How will you use your gifts and talents that God has blessed you with to worship the King and thank Him for being your greatest joy?
