Psalm 34 – You Already Have Everything
Young lions lack food and go hungry, but those who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing. (Psalms 34:10)
This has to be one of the best verses in the Bible. It tells you that if there was something that would be good for you to have, you would have it. If you don’t have it? It wouldn’t be good. At least not for you, or at least not right now. Every single thing that’s good for you? You already have it. And everything you have right now? Is good for you.
That includes lockdowns and lost paychecks. Isolation and loneliness under quarantine. Tragedy and turmoil in the world around you, maybe even among people you love. Everything God has given you right now serves some good purpose, and first on that list is Jesus Christ. God has already given you the best thing in the universe: his only son. And through Jesus he’s given you freedom from your sin. He’s given you adoption into his family. He’s given you new life and new power through the Holy Spirit. You don’t lack anything good right now if you have Jesus.
