Psalm 28 – God Hears You

READ PSALM 28

Blessed be the LORD! For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy. (Psalm 28:6)

Sometimes we pray for things and are unsure whether the Lord hears us. We’re unsure whether the Lord will answer our prayers. But we don’t need to be. We can have confidence that God hears us. We can have confidence that God will care for us. Why? Because He has already heard our pleas for mercy.

We all were sinners. In this psalm the author begs God to listen to him when he cries out for help. But he also says, in verse 3, “Do not drag me off with the wicked.” Now everyone who has sinned has that to be concerned about. All of us, if treated according to our sins, would be dragged off into eternal punishment. But God answers our cries for mercy and sends Jesus to die for our sins. So we can look back at God’s past faithfulness for saving us and proclaim with the psalmist, “Blessed be the Lord! For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.”
