Psalm 19 – Make Music Within

READ PSALM 19

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. (Psalms 19:14)

After reading Psalm 19 that describes creation and Scripture declaring the glories of God, did you find it interesting that in the last verse David asked God that he would do the same? David prayed May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you. The phrase and the meditation can be literally translated the sound of the harp when struck. Now connected that with the heart, which can also mean soul. And David’s prayer could also be “God, as the universe and all the things on earth declare and sing about Your glory, let a melody strum within my heart and soul, all about Your wonders.”

Creation sings to God and about God. Creation points us to the One who made it all. So go for a ten-minute walk around your neighborhood. Take in the blue skies, that bright sun, the tall trees, and those birds chirping. Let creation point you to the Artist and Maestro of the universe. Then ask God to compose the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart into songs that declare the glory of God. As you go about your day, pray that a psalm would compose within you, all about the wonders of God.
