Key Themes:
- Sin blocks our prayers.
- The only prayer of the non-Christian that God hears is the prayer for repentance and faith in Jesus.
Lesson Summary:
Did you know that we all have heart problems? Not physical heart problems but spiritual heart problems called sin. We have already learned that our sin puts a separation between God and us. It also hides God’s face from us so that He does not listen to our prayers. We learned of seven heart problems: lack of desire to pray, wrong motives, insincerity, pride, unkindness, selfishness, and not trusting in Jesus.
We should examine our hearts regularly to make sure that we don’t have a heart problem that could block our prayers. We can’t change our heart or take way our heart problems – but Jesus can. Do you want to pray for your heart now?
