Four weeks ago in Louisville, I heard Matt Chandler (pastor of The Village Church in Dallas) deliver an excellent message about the suffering and possibly even death that Christian leaders must be prepared to endure. He admitted that he hadn’t really experienced it yet.
Two weeks after that, he suffered a seizure on Thanksgiving Day. He woke up in a hospital, where doctors had discovered a 2-inch tumor in his brain.
He underwent emergency brain surgery on Friday, and is now recovering well. Before heading in for this complex and dangerous procedure, he taped this powerful video message for his church family, which my good friend Eric passed along to me. It’s worth taking 5 minutes to watch.
We are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:6-7).
