Elijah challenges the people of Israel at Mount Carme (v. 20-21)l. What does their failure to answer indicate?
What is pathetic about the frantic activities of Baal’s prophets and the taunts of Elijah (v. 26-29)?
What things does God reveal about himself in v. 30-40)?
In what ways are you like the Israelites, wavering between two gods? In what ways are you like Elijah, standing firm for the one true God?
Prayer Focus: Ask God for strength to stand for him alone.
Family Devotional: Read v. 30-39. In what ways did Elijah try make it hard for God to set fire to the sacrifice? What did God do? What is a hard thing in your life right now where God needs to do something?

Describe Naaman and the servant girl (v. 1-3).
Why was Naaman angry at Elisha (v. 10-13)?
What was Naaman’s response when he was cured (v. 15)?
When have you been upset because of the way God chose to work when you were in need?
Prayer Focus: Pray for sensitivity to the needs of others.
Family Devotional: Read v. 9-15. Why was it hard for Naaman to follow Elisha’s instructions? What are some instructions from God that are hard for you to follow?
(Thursday) Joel 2: Word Power
Joel compares the invasion to the end-times “day of the Lord” (v. 1-2, 11). What can we learn about that day from these verses?
How can the day of the Lord be a warning against spiritual complacency?
How do verses 12-17 help us understand repentance?
How have you experienced God’s healing through the act of repentance?
