(Monday) Proverbs 4: Life Advice

What does the author say wisdom will do for us (v. 6-9)?

Why is it dangerous to walk in the way of the wicked (v. 10-19)?

The author urges us to guard our hearts. What other aspects of life flow from the heart (v. 24-27)?

What are some practical steps to take in everyday life to guard your heart?

Prayer Focus: Ask God for wisdom and strength to guard your heart.

Family Devotional: Read v. 5-9. What is wisdom? What kinds of decisions do you make where you need

wisdom? How will wisdom make those decisions easier?

(Tuesday) Proverbs 10: One-liners

How are wise and foolish words contrasted (v. 8,10,13-14, 18-21, 31-32)?

The phrase “babbling fool” is used in v. 8 and 10. How would you describe that kind of person?

When have words been like “choice silver” (v. 20)  and nourished you (v. 21)?

What are some ways you need to rid yourself of unwholesome speech? Build wholesome speech?

Prayer Focus: Ask God to sovereignly control your speech through his Spirit.

Family Devotional: Read v. 19-21. Why would many words lead to sin? How can you build other people up

through your words? Go around and encourage someone in your family right now.

(Wednesday) Song of Songs 2: Love Story

What images do the “beloved” and “lover” use to describe one another (v. 2, 3, 8-9)?

What do these images reflect about the nature of their relationship?

What does this passage reveal about masculinity and femininity?

How does knowing that the Song of Songs is included in Scripture affect your view of married

relationships?

Prayer Focus: Praise God for the gift of marriage as a symbol of our relationship to him.

Family Devotional: Read v. 7. When is the right time for love to be awakened between two people? What kinds

of things will you be looking for in the person you marry?

(Thursday) Ecclesiastes 3: A Time for Everything

Describe the Teacher’s view of time in v. 1-8. What positive and negative things does he say about time

in v. 9-15?

The Teacher mentions future judgment (v. 17) and present testing (v. 18-22). What is the test and its

desired results?

What kind of perspective results from seeing wickedness from an eternal viewpoint?

How would you live your life differently if you believed God had no control?

Prayer Focus: Praise God for setting eternity in our hearts, and lifting us from our earthly perspective.

Family Devotional: Read v. 14. what things have you seen God do in your own family? How has he shown that

he is in control of everything?

(Friday) Ecclesiastes 10: Remember Your Creator

What is the significance of folly’s description in v. 2-3?

List the common situations described in v. 8-11 that call for the exercise of good judgment.

What are the consequences of wise and foolish lifestyles according to v. 16-20?

James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without

reproach, and it will be given him.” What current decision are you facing that requires wisdom?

Prayer Focus: Ask God to teach you prayerful wisdom and protect you from foolishness.

Family Devotional: Read v. 8-10. What do these examples teach you about caution? How could wisdom help

in each of these situations?
