A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (the late 60’s on the mainland), a pastor who would later become my boss started passing out a little mimeographed satire zine that skewered Christianity in all its human excesses and shortcomings. He called it The Wittenburg Door. Over the years it blossomed into a full-size magazine, and for a long time it was the only source for religious satire anywhere around. Like Saturday Night Live, it’s gone through many ups and downs over the years, but it’s maintained the tradition (a tradition begun by Jesus himself) of poking fun at people who take themselves too seriously.
I haven’t kept up with the magazine for a while, but I just saw that they’ve entered the new millennium and started a blog. We’ll see where it goes. You can find it here: The Wittenburg Blog
